Circus Rats

So I was driving out of an alley yesterday and saw 2 rats in another alley running and jumping up and down...basically playing. It was pretty funny.

Wow been busy. Work is crazy. But that is ok. Better than being bored. Of course it is 4pm and I am here until 5pm and I just finished all the projects I wanted to get done today. Overall a productive day. Pretty good for the day before a holiday. I’m kind of surprised that they haven’t told us we can leave early yet. Usually we get to leave by now the day before a holiday.

Ben has been working hard on our upstairs. It’s finally coming together. The drywall is going up. There is some more electrical that needs to be done…then taping and mudding the drywall. Then the carpet needs to come out. Then the bamboo flooring needs to be installed. Then painting. All before the baby comes. Lots to do now that I write it all down. But he is doing great. I know he will be happy he did it all himself when he is done.

My niece is just adorable. I love her tons. She is a wiggle worm though. Just moves constantly. I helped my parents watch her last night so my sister and brother-in-law could go out for dinner for their anniversary. She was pretty fussy. Overall fine just moves constantly. Plus she won’t let you put her down. She was awake the whole time that we were there. I finally got her to fall asleep about a half an hour before my sis got home. It was good for them though since it meant that she slept longer. They only had to get up once with her during the night.

We get to watch her on Saturday. It will be her first overnight away from home. My sis has a wedding to go to so we offered to watch my niece overnight. Kind of a test for us. Plus again a chance for my sis to get a full night sleep. I’m sure we will get lots of calls during the day which is fine.

We had our doctor’s appointment today. Everything is going well. We are 24 weeks along now. I have put on 12 lbs so that is good. The baby is kicking and moving constantly. I have discovered that he/she doesn’t like it when I put any weight on my stomach. This could even be my own hand. I usually get kicked when I do that. Last night when I was holding my niece, she was getting kicked by my little one. Pretty funny actually.

Well the little bugger has decided to kick me in my bladder so I guess I have to go to the bathroom now.

baby on the move

Baby is definitely moving now. I feel movement quite often. But until recently, I could only feel it on the inside. Recently however, I was pretty sure that I felt the movement with my hand but it’s hard for me to tell since I can always feel the baby move inside. So Ben had his hand on my belly this morning and I felt the baby kick. I asked him if he felt it. He said he felt something but he wasn’t sure what. Then the baby kicked again and he pointed to where he felt it. Sure enough he was right. There was one more kick and he felt that one too. It was great. He was very amazed by it.

We have our 20 week ultrasound on Monday. I am very excited about it but also a little nervous. This was the point last time where we found out that we were losing our first baby. I know this one is fine especially with all the movement going on but it will be nice to get past this one last hurdle and be able to move on without comparing things to last time.

so bored!!!!

I am sooooooo bored. The last couple of days at work have been insanely boring. I do have stuff to do but it is all so mind numbing that I want to scream. I am basically opening drawings up in the computer, making fixes to minor errors and then saving them and printing them out. The biggest problem with doing this is that there are slight differences in all the drawings and it is easy to make a simple mistake. So I have to print them out to double check the work. Then low and behold lots of times there are more fixes to be done. I feel bad since I am basically killing a tree to print this all out but if I don’t, I miss things. I have 3 more hours to go and don’t know if I’ll make it.

Of course to make things more difficult, I read books at lunch and the current one I am reading just got very interesting just as lunch was finishing. So now I am bored and really just want to open my book and read it. It would be much better use of my time. Of course the company may not see it that way.

Well…I did get side tracked for about an hour and a half so that is good. Just 1 ½ hours left to go. Time goes amazingly slow when you are watching it.

I am starting to look pregnant not like I have just put on some weight. That is good. Plus I am feeling the baby move more often. Also good. I may splurge on one dress. I have 2 weddings to go to this summer and would like to have a dress to wear to them. I’m not going to go crazy so if they are really expensive then forget it. I’m sure I can borrow one from the tons of people I know who have been pregnant over the last year or so.

Anyway….I guess, I will get some work done. Yippee.

My Tipsy Husband ;)

Such a funny night. Last night was our actual anniversary. My sister and her husband had given us a great wedding gift last year. They gave us 4 bottles of wine to drink. One to drink a month after our wedding. We drank that last year. Another to drink at our 1 year anniversary, another at our 5 year anniversary, and the last to drink at our 10 year anniversary. Pretty cool gift.

Well, let’s just say that I couldn’t help with the 1 year bottle. So Ben spent the last 2 days drinking it. Sunday evening he had one large glass. Then last night he finished the bottle. He was so funny. Not quite drunk but more like inebriated (as he told me). He kept giving me a silly grin. Plus his eyes were glossy. He doesn’t drink that much ever so he was pretty tipsy. Luckily he just gets funny.

Happy Anniversary Ben!!!

I can’t believe that today is our 1 year wedding anniversary. This has been such an amazing year. We have had some incredible ups and some horrible downs. But through it all I think we have just grown much closer as a couple for which I am exceedingly grateful. We have had just so much happen in this last year that it just flew by. Just to name a few things…

Got married.
Went on an incredible honeymoon.
Got pregnant.
Bought a house.
Ben ran the marathon.
Found out my sister was pregnant.
Lost our baby.
Visited his parents in Florida for Thanksgiving.
Went to Costa Rica for a friend’s wedding.
Found out we were pregnant again while we were there.
Lost Ben’s aunt.
Hosted a Passover Seder.
Started remodeling our upstairs.
Celebrated our one year anniversary.

We spent yesterday at the Planetarium. This is what we did to celebrate our anniversary. It is so nice to have gotten married in a place where we can visit every year. In fact in honor of our anniversary, we decided to get a year’s family membership to the Adler. So now when I have those 3 months off in the colder months after our baby is born, I will have a place I can just go and hang out. I have decided that I am going to really use that time to see the city. Go to the museums, and all that touristy stuff that I never find the time to do.

So Happy Anniversary Honey!!! I love you!!!

random happenings

I am feeling good today. I went out to the bowling alley last night with Ben. His company was having an outing. There were 2 20-something guys on his team. After I left apparently they told Ben that I was hot. That is wonderful to hear since I have been feeling more fat than hot lately. I know I’m not fat but when pants aren’t fitting anymore, it is kind of annoying. So it was nice to hear that these guys thought I looked hot. Ben always says that and that is wonderful but it is also nice to hear it from someone else.

We had a 15 week ultrasound and all is good with baby. I think I can feel him/her when I lay really still on my back. It makes it all seem so much more real. And it is very helpful in reassuring me that all is still ok.

We just booked a trip to Minneapolis for J&J’s lunch reception. I’m really excited to meet her family since I have always heard about them but only met one of her step brothers. I am especially excited to meet her grandmother. We were considering taking the train but decided to fly since we don’t really have vacation time that we can use.

We are going to put in a real effort to work on the upstairs this weekend. At least on Friday and Saturday anyway. If we can get the wiring set up that would be huge. Maybe even get some of the insulation installed.

Sunday we are celebrating our one year anniversary. It’s actually on Monday but we are celebrating on Sunday. We are going to go to the planetarium. And then having dinner. Not sure where yet but we will figure something out.

Some of my vegetables have started popping out of the ground. I also need to replant my herbs into an outside planter. Right now they are growing pretty well inside. So domesticated.

Anyway…I am pretty boring right now. We are waiting for my sister to have her baby but she isn’t due for another 4 weeks.
